What Specifically Happens During a Hypnosis Session?
During a hypnosis session, a hypnotherapist helps you refocus your thoughts in a desired direction. Realize that you may experience each hypnotherapy session differently from each one. Depending on your specific needs for each session, the results will apply to what you need for each visit. However, there are some basic stages common to all hypnosis sessions.
Sessions normally begin with a conversation whereby the hypnotherapist learns more about the client. This is called the pre-talk part of the session or pre-interview.
During this part of the session the client develops a trusting rapport with the hypnotherapist. After the hypnotherapist finds out more details about the client’s issue or challenges, the client is guided into a hypnotic mind state.
The beginning part of a hypnosis session is called the induction. During the induction, the client relaxes and listens to the hypnotherapist suggesting that the client relax. It is during this relaxation experience that the hypnotic process helps the client to clear his or her mind (partially or fully) of distracting or self-limiting ideas.
After the issue is resolved in the client’s mind, the hypnotherapist suggests that the client return to a state of wakeful awareness minus the upset feelings about the issue.
